Kenneth R Alleyne, MD

Dr.Alleyne founded Eastern Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine with the philosophy of practice “patient first”. It is that concept that has lead him to continually strive to provide for his patients the latest operative and non-operative treatments for their orthopedic concerns. He is a graduate of Williams College where in addition to being  a three season athlete he was an athletic trainer which began his interest in sports medicine. He attended the Wake Forest University School of Medicine beginning his focus on orthopaedics as a career by having the opportunity to observe the university sports medicine service and participate in research projects. His research interest were continued with a fellowship at the Harvard/MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology  working to develop  new substances to encourage the growth of bone and cartilage. Residency training was carried out  at Howard University Hospital, providing a broad exposure to all aspects of orthopaedics. He  undertook a fellowship in sports medicine/shoulder and knee surgery at Yale University where he was a team physician for the football and track teams.

His  practice focuses on operative and non-operative problems of the shoulder and knee including arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder  and knee  for problems of the tendons ie rotator cuff, cartilage and ligaments. Dr.Alleyne has a special interest in the management of arthritis of the knee with novel operative and non-operative treatments and strategies ncluding minimally invasive knee replacement, gender based knee replacement and replacements using longer more durable implants. Minimally invasive knee surgery o often allows for shorter hospital stays and improved early motion..   He serves as clinical faculty at the Yale School of Medicine/VA Service where he teaches residents on the managment of shoulder and knee problems
