Kenneth R Alleyne, MD

Kenneth R Alleyne MD is board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine with a focus on injury prevention and the maintenance of healthy, active lifestyles in patients from school age to active seniors.  His practice mainly focuses on the surgical and non-surgical management of problems in the shoulder and knee as well as sports medicine and total knee replacement using minimally invasive and advanced arthroscopic techniques.

He has provided medical coverage for a number of national and international sports organizations including USA Cycling, USA Boxing, Team Connecticut Baseball, and CVC Subaru Cycling Team as well as many high school athletic programs.  

He currently is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University Of Connecticut School Of Medicine, His residency training was carried out at Howard University Hospital, and he completed a sports medicine fellowship at Yale University. He spent a year at the Harvard MIT division of health sciences and technology as a research fellow working on novel biopolymers. He has published and presented in the fields of sports medicine, tissue engineering, and health information technology.  His clinical research interests surround minimally invasive surgical techniques, injury prevention, computers in medicine and cartilage and tissue repair. His belief in the importance of the maintenance of active lifestyles have allowed him to work closely with schools in designing programs to improve safe sports participation for school age athletes.

Dr Alleyne has a strong belief in the team approach to care and often utilizes traditional and less traditional non-operative treatments to assist patients with their medical concerns.  Physical therapy, nutrition therapy, personal training, massage are all parts of the team concept used at EOSM. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, Arthroscopy Association of North America, USA Track and Field, USA Cycling and US Sailing Associations. Dr Alleyne currently serves and has served on the boards of the Kingswood-Oxford School, JazzReach Inc, a national arts organization and Community Health Services of Hartford one of the largest providers of healthcare to underinsured and uninsured Connecticut residents.  He is a graduate of Williams College where he was a 3-season athlete and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Dr. Alleyne is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is an appointed Commissioner on the Connecticut Commission on Health Equity.  He is involved in a number of programs focused on mentorship and minority student access to higher education. He serves on the scientific advisory board of Soft Tissue Regeneration, is a Corporator of Rockville Bank and a medical advisor to www.knee1.com and www.shoulder1.com.
